William Gary Meador

August 24, 1949 — May 7, 2019

William Gary Meador, “Gary” was born in West Virginia on August 24 1949 to William and Madeline. In the early ‘60s the family relocated to the Washington D.C./Maryland area where he became a die-hard Washington Redskins fan.

A proud Navy Veteran, he enlisted upon graduating from Bladensburg High School. While serving in the Navy, he met the love of his life Christine “Chris” Durrant whom he married in 1971. They relocated back to Chris’s hometown of Rigby where their marriage was sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. An avid sportsman and devoted father he shared his love of the great outdoors with his daughters Trista and Anitra. An ISU alumni in software programming, he relocated his family to South Florida to pursue job opportunities in his chosen field.

His spirit was unwavering despite the myriad of medical issues he faced throughout his life. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling and basketball. He also was a Jeep enthusiast and avid coin collector who was especially fond of his Morgan Dollars.

On May 7 2019 he lost his battle and passed away. His warm smile and wry sense of humor will be greatly missed by his surviving family; his wife of 47 years Christine (Durrant) Meador; daughters Trista (Chris) Robbins and Anitra Meador; and beloved granddaughter Dylan Robbins.

A graveside memorial will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
