Please run this obituary again as we gave it to you, there were errors in the paper. The historical part that he served as one of the churches oldest Bishops and that he was preceded by his granddaughter Lexi Munns was omitted. Jedediah in his name was incorrect as well, this is the correct spelling.
William Jedediah “Bill” Raymond, 95, of Menan, died May 28, 2004 surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born May 20, 1909 in Menan, to Orson and Ann Rawson Raymond. He attended Menan Elementary and Midway High School. During World Ward II he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in Africa and Italy as an airplane Mechanic. After the war Bill served an LDS Mission in Western Canada.
He married Betty Louise Christofferson on May 6, 1949 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They farmed in Menan and then owned a dairy in Victor, Montana. They returned to Menan where they farmed and he worked in security at the Atomic Energy Commission Site. After Bill’s retirement, he and Betty served a mission together in Mesa, Arizona. Throughout his life, Bill filled many church callings including serving as the church’s oldest bishop from age 75 to 81.
He is survived by daughters Louise (Mike) Bryan and DeAnn (Clair) Munns both of Iona, Idaho; and Merri Raymond of Las Vegas, Nevada; son Ronald (Kathy) Raymond of Blackfoot; Sister Lettie Hale of Las Vegas, Nevada; 17 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, sisters Baby Raymond, Donetta, Almira, Beth, Ruth, Eliza and Julia; brothers Orson, J.M. “Sock”, David and Leon and granddaughter Lexie Munns.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Menan 2nd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Jerald Raymond officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
