William Treasure “Bill” Simmons, age 76, of Terreton, died at Madison Memorial Hospital, Friday December 23, 2005.
Bill was born June 1, 1929 at St. Anthony, Idaho a son of Eli Alma and Sara Klingler Simmons. He attended schools in Monteview, Terreton, and Roberts, graduating from Roberts High School. He attended Brigham Young University for two years. He married Theola Cook December 10, 1954 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving a mission to the Southern States and for several years in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was a farmer and businessman farming in the Terreton area, owning and operating Simmons Equipment in Terreton from 1960 to 2000 and owning his car dealership. He was inducted into the Idaho-Agriculture Hall of Fame and was awarded Citizen of the Year by the West Jefferson Lions Club. He enjoyed his work, family and friends.
Survivors include three daughters: Julee (Stacey) Bauer of Mud Lake, Jann (Scott) Denney of Twin Falls, Kristi (Adam) Hansen of Phoenix, Arizona, four sons: Todd (Paulynn) Simmons of Terreton, Lyle (Diane) Simmons of Rexburg, David (Jana) Simmons of Terreton, Larry (Kristen) Simmons of Bancroft, Idaho, one sister Ann (Claire) Dearden of Layton, Utah, 37 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Theola, 1 daughter Jolene Holm, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 12:00 Noon in the Terreton LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends at the Terreton LDS Stake Center on Monday December 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
