Lovell Harrop, age 90, of Ammon, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, March 8, 2018. Lovell was born December 27, 1927 in Annis, Idaho to Earnest William Harrop and Chloy Walker Harrop. He graduated from High School and went on to Chicago at age 17 to receive training at Coyne Electrical School. He married Melba Elaine Olson November 26, 1948 and later sealed together in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had a wonderful life together and loved to dance and taught many youth to dance. They had three children, Larry, Kathy, and Colleen. Larry passed away at age 7 ½ of Luekemia. Melba passed away suddenly January 6, 1971. Unfortunately, his daughter Colleen passed away 3 years ago. It has been hard for him to lose a wife and two of his children. Lovell operated several businesses including Bonneville Service Center, Ahrco Sales and Engineering. He brought the first Kentucky Fried Chicken and The Villa Restaurant and Pizza to Idaho Falls. He later farmed in the Annis Area and had a ranch in the Teton Basin. He loved to ride horses in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter. He met and married Lorraine Mathews Larsen in Pocatello, Idaho November 20, 1971 They also loved to dance and enjoyed 46 years together. They enjoyed spending the winters in Yuma, Arizona and St. George, Utah. They were instrumental in carrying on a Multi-Regional Dance Festival in the Mini Dome. They enjoyed two LDS church missions to Nauvoo and Martins Cove. Survivors include: his wife Lorraine of Ammon, a daughter Kathy (Darrell) Cheney of Rexburg, a son-in-law Doug (Allison)Scott, a step daughter Debbie Boyce of Pocatello, four step sons Mike (Terri) Larsen of Idaho Falls, Murry Larsen and Loren Larsen of Pocatello and Lyle (Carrie) Larsen of Rigby , with 9 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and Lorraine’s 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Chloy Harrop, his first wife Melba Olson Harrop, a son Larry Dean Harrop and a daughter Colleen Scott. siblings: Beulah Mobley, Helen Bohne, Lola Mary Harrop, Garth Harrop and Donabelle Nelson Harrop. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ammon 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 1100 South Tie Breaker Drive, Ammon, Idaho 83406. The family will visit with friends Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho 83442 and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
