Wilma Jeannette Rigby, 86, of Rigby, died Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was born in Poulsbo, Washington on March 5, 1917 the only child of Ragna and Simon W. Murley. She attended schools in the Poulsbo and Bremerton, Washington area, graduating from Bremerton High School. After high school in 1939, Wilma attended the Nurses Training Program at Tacoma General Hospital, where she met her husband Clifford B. Rigby. They married on July 6, 1939 at the Murley Home in Bremerton and then moved to Sugar City, Idaho. In 1940, she and her husband moved to Rexburg, Idaho to be partners with Clifford’s brother in their small hospital. In 1942, she moved with her husband to their permanent home in Rigby, Idaho. With her husband, Dr. Rigby, she served as a lifelong partner in their medical practice assisting with her nursing skills.
She was a member of the Upper Snake River Valley Medical Auxiliary and a member of the Lutheran Church.
Wilma played piano as a young girl, enjoyed family, needle work, her flower garden, playing bridge with her special friends, her dog and the many happy hours at the family cabin in Island Park, Idaho.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanine (Don) Sauer of Boise, Idaho. Two sons; Steven M. Rigby of Prescott, Arizona and Mark A. (Linda) Rigby of Gaithersburg, Maryland, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford and a son Ronald Rigby.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will visit with friends Sunday, November 23, 2003, from 6-7:30 p.m. at The Rigby LDS Stake Center, 258 West 1st North Street, and on Monday from 1-2:00 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
