Wretta Ellen Ward, age 90, of Rigby, died Friday, February 29, 2008 at Rexburg Nursing and Rehab in Rexburg, Idaho. Wretta was born February 26, 1918, at Hibbard, Idaho a daughter of Whitney Squires and Harriet Della Hendrick Squires. She attended Madison County Schools graduating from Madison High School. She married Melvin Ward in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple December 1, 1938. She was an active member of the LDS Church and had served in the Primary for twenty five years including five years as counselor and as president, taught Young Women for 6 years, was a counselor, secretary and president of the Relief Society, was a visiting teacher for fifty years, Librarian for two and one half years in Annis and two and one half years in LaBelle 1st Ward and served in the Spanish Extraction Program for three and one half years. She enjoyed riding horses, car trips, the mountains, sewing and crafts. She is survived by three sons: William H. Ward of Utah, Bruce (Luann) Ward of Randle, Washington, and Brent (Jodi) Ward of Rigby, a sister Geraldine Squires of Rigby and a brother Reed (Cora Jean) Squires of Rexburg, 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters Cleo Kerbs and Betty Bell, one brother, Garold Squires, and two grandsons, Adam Ward and Randy Ward. Funeral services will be held Monday March 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lorenzo Ward LDS Chapel (4223 East 528 North, Rigby) with Bishop Jeremy Hall officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
