Zane A. Casper, 89, of Ammon Idaho, formerly of Ucon passed away on October 16, 2025, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital. He was born on March 21, 1936, in Garfield, Idaho, to Grant Floyd Casper and Emily Pearl Andrus Casper.
Zane attended school in Rigby, Idaho, completing the eighth grade. On March 19, 1954, he married Nancy Gay Hodges.Zane worked as a truck driver for Garrett Freight Line for 37 years. During his adult life he lived in Idaho Falls, Ucon for 56 years, and later Ammon, Idaho.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a counselor in the Ucon 2nd ward Sunday School Presidency and as a Cub Scout Leader.
Zane loved Arabian horses and enjoyed cross-country endurance riding and mountain trail rides, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gay Casper of Ammon, Idaho; daughters Tamara Gay Jolley of Rigby, Idaho and Candice Pearl (Mark) Anderson of Iona, Idaho; sons Craig Zane Casper of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Kim Gene Casper (deceased) married to Tracy of Ucon, Idaho; and his brother Bill (Mary) Casper of Rigby, Idaho. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Marcheta Pearl Hodges, Barbara Buckland, Rhoda Taylor, Joan Woolf; one brother, Floyd G. (Barbara) Casper; and his son, Kim Gene Casper.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home. A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, and a visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will follow at the Ucon Cemetery.
