Zane Leroy Eddins

Zane Leroy Eddins, 83, of Monteview, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Madison Memorial Hospital. He was born December 10, 1925, in LaBelle, Idaho, to George William Eddins and Sarah Meiklejohn Eddins. He attended schools in LaBelle, and Rigby. He served in the US Navy during WWII. On July 31, 1948, he married Patricia Reed in Caldwell, Idaho; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, January 27, 1965. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Scout Master, Young Men’s President, High Priest Group Leadership, and was a former member of the Bishopric. Zane had a special love for the outdoors; fishing, hunting camping gardening and “wooding” with the grandkids. He had a knack for teaching kids about fishing, and some of life’s other basic skills, with lots and lots of patience. He was thoughtful and caring of others, especially the widows in the area. He will be especially missed by the children, who lovingly called him “The Candy Man” He is survived by his wife, Patricia Eddins, of Monteview, Idaho, daughters; Sandra (Rex) Smith, of Fielding, Utah, Carol (Larry) Mecham, of Monteview, Idaho, a son; Roy (Myrna) Eddins, of Bancroft, Idaho, brothers; Dempsey (Julie) Eddins, of McCall, Idaho, Sam Eddins, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lewis (Norma) Eddins, of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, 18 grandchildren, and 53 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Robert Dale Eddins, a sister; Etta Eddins, and brothers; George “Bud”, Lonn, Ned, Mick, Noel, and Duane Eddins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2009, at the Monteview LDS Chapel, with Bishop Waid Stoneberg, conducting. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel, in Rigby.
