Zola Armstrong, 91 of Menan, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Ashton Living Center.
Zola was born July 5, 1924 in Parker, Idaho to Murray Clifford Hunter and Birdie Marie Grover Hunter.
She was attended schools in Parker, Kilgore, Spencer, and Dubois, graduating from Dubois High School. She lived in Salmon and Kilgore and then Menan after she married. On October 31, 1947 she married Franklin DeVerle “Pete” Armstrong in Kilgore, Idaho. They were blessed with 2 daughters and 2 sons; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple August 10, 1963.
Zola was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in many capacities including Relief Society 2nd Counselor, and Secretary, Visiting Teacher, Sunday School Coordinator, in the Nursery, Library and as a Spanish Extractor. She also worked in the school lunch program at Kilgore and Midway. She loved crocheting, quilting, embroidery, playing cards and games like pinochle, canasta, and Chinese checkers. She also enjoyed traveling, some of her destinations were Philadelphia, San Francisco, the Oregon coast, Canada, Kentucky or she just liked riding around the block.
She is survived by her daughters, Sybil Cox, of Boise, Valerie Armstrong, of Idaho Falls, son, Cameron Armstrong, of Idaho Falls, sisters, Ruth Garett of Casper, WY, Lily Mae Hunter of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, brother, Richard Hunter, of Dubois, 1 grandson, 3 granddaughters, 6 great-grandsons and 1 great- granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete, son, John, 2 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 great granddaughter.
Zola’s family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Ashton Living Center for the wonderful loving care they gave Zola.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Menan 2nd Ward, 3547 E. Menan Lorenzo Hwy, Menan. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. And from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
