In Loving Memory of Warren Haden Cuppy, Jr.
Warren Haden Cuppy, Jr., age 70, of Idaho Falls, peacefully passed away on January 12, 2024, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones, after complications arising from heart surgery.
Warren was born on February 23, 1953, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Warren Haden Cuppy, Sr. and Joanne Ellen Sauter Cuppy. His journey began in Long Beach, California, where he grew up in a tightknit community on Steevely Avenue. On August 12, 1978, Warren married the love of his life, Barbara Jane Dement, in Garden Grove, Orange County, California. In 1988, he, his wife and his two daughters made Idaho Falls their home. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared experiences.
Warren graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California. He furthered his studies at Biola University, and Western Bible Institute. A man of faith, Warren was ordained as a minister at the Family Bible Church in Orange County, California and later served as pastor of the Dubois Community Baptist Church in Dubois, Idaho from 1994 onward.
Warren's dedication extended beyond his family; he was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and the Tribe of Tahquitz, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and later serving as a den mother for his boys Trent and Travis. He was drawn by God to the Providence Downtown Church and the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, where his passion for the gospel shone brightly.
Warren worked for the Idaho Department of Transportation, where he not only excelled in his role of road and bridge inspector but also enjoyed teaching others.
A man of diverse interests, Warren found joy in studying the Bible, fishing, golfing with his grandson, solving math problems, and playfully teasing his daughters and grandchildren. An engineer at heart, he would often be found drafting plans to remodel every home he’d ever lived in.
Warren is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jane Cuppy, his daughters JoAnna (Bernie Belloff) Cuppy and Becca (Ricky Wilkins) Cuppy of Idaho Falls, his sons Trent Charlton and Travis (Amanda) Charlton of Lewiston, Idaho, his sister Anne (Dave) Curry of Palm Springs, California, his brother Gary (Leigh) Cuppy of Tillamook, Oregon, and three adoring grandchildren Tenley Stewart, Talon Stewart and Samantha Abbott.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service to celebrate Warren's life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dubois Community Center in Dubois, Idaho. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will take place at the Dubois Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.
In this time of sorrow, may we find solace in the memories we shared with Warren, a man whose kindness, dedication, and love touched the lives of all who knew him.
